Celebrating 50 plus years of EC football

Ellwood City football coaching staff along with the boosters are bringing back past coaches and inviting previous players for an evening of dinner, drinks and stories, as they prepare for the upcoming season.

In 2010, the Wolverines had a winning season and made the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.  The boosters and coaches are looking forward to the upcoming season and returning to the playoffs to bring back a winning tradition to Ellwood City Football.

“Last season was a big year for us,” said Dave Hunter of the football boosters.  “Everything increased, from attendance to concession sales.  Everyone was excited for Ellwood City football again – it was a lot of fun.”

This alumni and coach gathering is a casual event at the Wurtemburg-Perry Fire Hall on Saturday, August 6 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“We wanted to have this event to help boost Ellwood City football and keep the excitement and winning tradition alive,” said Hunter.

At this time, the boosters have commitments from Ellwood City coaches from the past 50 plus years, including Curt Agostinelli, Nick Lamenza, Karl Florie, Jim Rankin, Don Costa, Pat Tarquinio, and present coach Don Phillips.

The alumni dinner will consist of meatball and hot sausage sandwiches, cold sandwiches, pasta, and cold sides.  Beer, pop, coffee, and water will also be provided.

The cost is $25 and reservations need to be made with Dave Hunter at ecfbbooster@hotmail.com or 724-601-0491 – reservations should be made by July 30.  Checks can be made payable to “EC Football Booster” and mail to Dave Hunter, 508 First Ave., Ellwood City, PA 16117.
