A commendation was presented to family members of a long standing Ellwood City resident Friday afternoon. The commendation and celebratory birthday wishes were given to Virginia Lash who recently turned 100 years old.

Mayor Tony Court awarded Ms. Lash with the commendation for her dedicated service to Park Gate Baptist, to the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary, Historical Society, Garden Guild, and Order of the Eastern Star No. 212.
The commendation offer the following words: ‘You are truly an inspiration to life and it is an honor to recognize you for the years of service you have given to the community and for this service Ellwood City both COMMENDS and THANKS YOU.’
