Led by Brandon Lucarelli’s four 3-pointers, the Wolverines rebound with a 64-43 section victory over Laurel Tuesday night, not nearly one week after it’s lop-sided 51-4 defeat at Mohawk.
Ellwood City connected on seven 3-pointers as a team and used a 16-5 first quarter burst to quickly put away the Spartans. Matt Morella also reached double figures for the Wolverines, finishing with 11 points. Jared Vetica and Matt Germanoski each finished with nine points in the victory.
The win was just the Wolverine’s 3rd section victory and even with victories in its remaining two Section 2-AA games (Summit Academy, Riverside) will not make the playoffs.
Although Friday night’s loss may be the worst in school history and one of the lowest scoring outputs in the Beaver County Times’ coverage area, the Wolverines will look to finish the season strong and honor its four seniors (Morella, Lucarelli, Germanoski, and Vetica) Friday, February 10th hosting Riverside.
