An Ellwood City man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly raped a 4-year-old girl while her mother was at work.
Steve Squires, 50, of 318 Hillside Ave., Ellwood City, is charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, indecent assault, statutory sexual assault, and aggravated indecent assault with a child under the age of 13.
According to the criminal complaint, the girl told police and youth services that she was assaulted while her mother was away at work. She told officials that Squires raped her and also made her watch pornographic material with him.
The accused denied all the allegations during questioning, but later admitted to touching the girl inappropriately. He continued to deny the rape, though.
Squires was subsequently arrested and was arraigned in front of Beaver County Judge Tim Finn on Monday. He was placed in the Beaver County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Squires has a preliminary hearing set for 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 27.
