Police search for man in attempted homicide

Police are looking for a man they say fired five shots at another man, hitting him once in the hand.

Shenango Township Police are seeking the whereabouts of Jermaine C. Hunter, 22, who is allegedly responsible for the shooting at the residence of Michael Thomas, 22, of Ellwood Rd., New Castle.

Shenango Township Police are searching for Jermaine C. Hunter, 22 - suspect in the attempted homicide.

According to police, Thomas showed up at the Ellwood City Hospital on Sunday with a gunshot wound to his right hand.  He told police that at approximately 1 p.m., the suspect pulled into his driveway in a green Chevrolet Malibu, stepped out, and opened fire.

Authorities say that two shots passed through Thomas’ clothing but didn’t hit him. One round went through the window of a vehicle parked in Thomas’ driveway.  After the shooting, police said Hunter drove away.

Union Township Police found his vehicle a short time later, but did not find Hunter anywhere near the vehicle.

Police said that charges have been filed and a warrant was issued for attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault, criminal mischief, and two firearm violations.

The condition of the victim is unknown, according to police, but he was transported from Ellwood City to Pittsburgh for his injuries.
