Riverside pitchers show of their skills
Riverside pitcher Rob Hardy had a strong performance on the mound Wednesday afternoon as the Panthers baseball team defeated Carlynton, 13-3. Hardy had six strikeouts in five innings and only gave up two runs. Carlynton had an early lead, scoring two runs in the second inning. POLICE: Man tries to enter wrong home
An Ellwood City woman contacted police late Tuesday night after she said an intoxicated man was trying to get into her home on Border Avenue in Ellwood City, according to police reports. According to the report, a man was intoxicated and thought it was his home as he tried to enter. Riverside junior ace Kirsten Wilson was strong on the hill and the Panther offense capitalized on free passes at the plate in defeating the Ellwood City 2-0 Tuesday afternoon. Field officially named after hall of fame coach
The Riverside School District officially dedicated the high school baseball field Tuesday afternoon to the school’s longstanding coach of 43 years to Dan Oliastro. Directly before the varsity baseball game between Riverside and Blackhawk, officials from Riverside held a short ceremony to officially name the baseball field after their coach – the field was fittingly named “Dan Oliastro Field.” Riverside players Tyler Whitlatch, Corey Belonzi, and Rob Hardy helped unveil the sign. Group to put millions into former elementary school
Although the Ellwood City School Board was not happy they didn’t receive a bid close to the appraised value of the Walnut Ridge school building, they decided last week one bid was close enough. In a special meeting, the school board agreed to accept the bid from Wish Development of New Castle for the amount of $100,000, much less than a previous appraisal of $345,000. Camp Allegheny preparing for summer season
The Salvation Army in Western Pennsylvania is gearing up for its 2012 camping season.
