Woman passes out from drugs at local McDonald’s
An Ellwood City woman has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of children, and several other charges after falling asleep at McDonald’s as her children ate and played. Darcy Kelosky, 33, of Wampum Ave., Ellwood City, was arrested Tuesday night at McDonald’s in Ellwood City. Organization designed to help the disabled
The Rotary Club of Ellwood City welcomed David McCormick at their weekly meeting on April 26 to speak on his organization. McCormick, the founder of Recycled Mobility Products, Inc., was the speaker at the meeting. His nonprofit organization seeks to supply mobility equipment to those in need. Boxing event raises money for medical bills
Jack Maine, a 24-year-old amateur boxer from Ellwood City, was severely injured in a car accident in December, suffering a fractured skull in four places. But on Saturday, Maine suited up and stepped into the ring one more time as part of “The Maine Event” live boxing show at the SOI Hall on Lawrence Avenue. Wilson tosses no-hitter, RHS squads sweep
Riverside’s Kirsten Wilson fired a no-hitter while Panther Corey Belonzi tossed a 5-hitter, both in complete game shutout victories for their respective softball and baseball squads. Wilson struck out nine Freedom batters and also collected two hits, including a double, for the Lady Panthers (11-1 overall) as they rolled to a easy 12-0 victory over Freedom. Annual borough cleanup to improve look of town
Ellwood City Mayor Anthony J. Court is once again hosting the annual Ellwood City Spring Cleanup Day that will be held on Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. Riverside boys win Beaver Co. championships
The Riverside boys took first place in this year’s Beaver County Track and Field Championships over the weekend with a score of 95. The next closest team was South Side with 79 points. Riverside’s Bobby Gould was integral in each of the team’s three first-place finishes. $7 Million grant for proposed water park in Lawrence Co.
A major sewer project supporting a proposed resort hotel, indoor water park, and the proposed racetrack and casino in Mahoning Township will receive $7,556,690 in state funding.
