Bus and truck collide in North Beaver

The drivers of a Mohawk school bus and a tractor-trailer are in the hospital after the two vehicles collided on Route 18 early this morning at approximately 7 a.m. According to reports, the accident happened along a stretch of Route 18 in North Beaver Township. Ellwood City tops Riverside for fifth WPIAL title

The Ellwood City Wolverines captured the 2012 WPIAL Class AA Championship with a thrilling 9-7 victory over rival Riverside on Wednesday at Consol Energy Park in Washington Pa. It’s graduation day for Lincoln High

It may seem like an early graduation for Lincoln High School, and that’s because it is. The high school typically holds its commencement sometime in early June, but since this year’s winter was so mild, snow days were at a minimum and school could end at its normal time. Police investigating altercation after Nativity meeting

The Nativity is back in the news, but this time for an entirely different reason. Ellwood City Police are investigating an alleged incident between an Ellwood City council member and a resident from Slippery Rock Township. Spelling Bee challenges students from area schools

The Lawrence County Spelling Bee was held on Thursday at the Lawrence Courthouse in the Commissioner’s Conference Center and 11 students competed for the championship. By round nine, there were three contestants left.  After spelling correctly in eight rounds, Braiden Wills, from St. Vitus School, misspelled ‘susceptible’ and secured his position as the third place winner. Bus rides to see WPIAL Championship

Lincoln and Riverside high schools are sending buses to Consol Energy Park in Washington, Pa. to watch the Wolverines take on the Panthers in the WPIAL Class AA Championship. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
