Ellwood City borough council approved three resignations and two appointments during Monday’s monthly regular meeting.
They accepted the resignations of Connie MacDonald, fire chief of the Ellwood City Fire Department, effective June 22; Linda Thompson, bookkeeper for the borough, effective July 31; and Carol Baker, utility clerk, effective August 31.
“I accept all three of these resignations with regret,” said Councilman Ralph Chiappetta. “They all did great work for the borough.”
“We should be happy that we had them as long as we did,” said Councilman George Celli. “They will be hard to replace.”
“Congratulations to them all, and I hope they all have a great retirement,” said Council President Anthony DeCarbo.”
The council also accepted two appointments. Mark Blue has been appointed as the new Electric Superintendent at the rate of $27.10 per hour. Also, Mark Linville is appointed the new Working Foreman for the Electric Department at the rate of $23.69 per hour.
Last month, council approved the retirement of longstanding electric department superintendent Bill Cunningham. Blue, formerly working foreman, replaced that vacancy. Then, with the promotion of Blue, electric department lineman Linville replaced the opening left by Blue.
