Free e-book downloads available at EC Library

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following for the week of June 4.

Starting today, the library is offering e-books which can be downloaded free of charge onto various e-readers, including the Kindle, the Nook, the I-Pad and more.

Go to their website at www.ellwoodcitylibrary.com and follow the “e-book” link. Those participating must have a card from the Ellwood City Library. Call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Tuesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” a program designed for families with babies and toddlers from 6 months of age to 5 years old, kicks off the summer of fun here at the library. Stories, songs, finger plays and more are featured. This is an interactive program, so all children must be accompanied by family members. Registration is not required, but is requested by the library. Those interested in participating may call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Wednesday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for adults. The group will discuss the book, “Object Lessons,” by Anna Quindlen. More information is available by calling the library.

Thursday, June 7, at 3:00 p.m. – “Just 4 Girls,” a book discussion group designed for girls in 7th grade and up. The group will discuss the book, “Delirium,” by Lauren Oliver. More information is available by calling the library.

Thursday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. – “Family Night Summer Reading Kickoff,” a program designed for preschoolers and elementary-aged children and their families. This activity will launch the library’s event-filled summer of fun and will feature a wide variety of activities in which both children and their parents can participate. Refreshments will be served. Registration is recommended, but not required. Call the library for more information.

The Summer Reading Program begins the week of June 12, and all children are invited to participate.

“Jump Start to Kindergarten,” a program for children who will be entering kindergarten this fall, will be held on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.

Programs for students who have completed kindergarten through 3rd grades will be held on Wednesday mornings, with those who finished kindergarten and 1st grade meeting at 10 a.m., and those completing 2nd and 3rd grades meeting at 11a.m.

“Puppet Theater Workshop,” designed for students in 4th grade and up will meet on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m.
