In the final game of the regular season, Sitler & Lemmon continued to do what it has all season, win games with a total team effort. Eight different players touched the plate for S&L while seven were credited with at least one hit.
Justin Baney started on the hill for S&L and kept their opponent, ESB Bank, at bay until the bats sealed the victory in the final two innings. Baney allowed just three runs on four hits, striking out eight along the way.
Baney handed the game over to Vinny Romanio after four innings, leading 6-3. Romanio tallied seven strike outs in just two innings of work. While Romanio was working his magic, S&L bats came alive producing nine runs in the final two frames, winning via mercy rule after six innings of play.
Offensive leaders for S&L: Joey Bellissimo 1-1, 4 runs scored; Justin Baney 2-3, 3 runs, Vincent DeCaria 2-4, 1 run, Jon Sedgwick 2-2, 1 R, and Vinny Romanio 1-1, 2 R.
Leading the way for ESB were Davide DeLoia and Luke Angelucci who each had a hit and scored two runs, while Patrick Pawlak was 2-3 and Brian Damon was 1-2 and hit a triple to the deepest part of the yard.
S&L finished the season at 8-3, garnering the second seed in the Pony League playoffs. The first game in the best of three series is Thursday at 8 p.m. versus Hasson State Farm.
