As August approaches, so do the start of summer football camps and workouts in preparation for the upcoming 2012 high school football season. Both Ellwood City and Riverside have unveiled their season schedules.
The Ellwood City Wolverine football team plays its first game, a scrimmage against Grove City, on Saturday, Aug. 18 and another hosting Rochester on Aug. 24. Similarly, Riverside has scrimmages on the same dates, taking on Avonworth and Quaker Valley high schools.
ELLWOOD CITY SCHEDULE ::: RIVERSIDE SCHEDULE
For Riverside, they have the honors of hosting Ellwood City for homecoming on September 28 at 7 p.m. However, the two teams will not compete in their always exciting season finale matchup like last season. The 2012 matchup will come mid-season.
Head-to-head last season, Riverside defeated Ellwood, 14-7. But, Ellwood City was still playoff bound, winning their first round matchup against Freeport, 33-26. In the second round, the Wolverines could not surpass the tough Greensburg Central Catholic team, falling 18-15.
