Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:
Tuesday, August 7, at 5:00 p.m. — “Food 4 Thought,” a book discussion group for students in 9th grade and up. The group will discuss the book, “Firelight,” by Sophie Jordan. More information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458.
Wednesday, August 8, at 3:00 p.m. — Creative Writing Workshop for students in 10th grade and up. This group meets twice each month to read and review their work. New members are always welcome, and more information is available by calling the library.
Thursday, August 9, at 11:45 a.m. — “Bookworms,” a book discussion group for students in 4th and 5th grades, will meet to discuss the book, “Everything on a Waffle,” by Polly Horvath. This group meets once each month throughout the summer. Those registered to participate are reminded to attend.
Thursday, August 9, at 6:30 p.m. — “Family Movie Night,” the last in a series of three feature-length films shown this summer at the library. This week’s event will feature “Tin Roof Sundae Night.” Children attending this final event will be treated to a Tin Roof Sundae. All movies shown this summer have a PG rating. For more information, and to find out the title of the movie to be shown, call the library.
The library is now offering e-books which can be downloaded free of charge onto various e-readers, including the Kindle, the Nook, the IPad and more. Go to our website at www.ellwoodcitylibrary.com and follow the “e-book” link. Those participating must have a card from the Ellwood City Library. Call the library for more information.
The library will be hosting its annual, week-long book sale from October 1-6 this year, and donations of books are now being accepted. Donations may be dropped off at the library during normal business hours. The library will NOT ACCEPT textbooks of any sort, encyclopedias, magazines or Readers’ Digest Condensed books. All other books — fiction and non-fiction, adult and children’s, — are welcome. Call the library for more information.
On Tap for September are the annual “Story Telling Festival” in Ewing Park, planned for Saturday, September 16, and the second annual “Library Vendor Fair” fundraiser with a special featured luncheon on Sunday, September 23. Mark your calendars now!
