Charges filed on man who assaulted teen on tractor

Police have filed charges on the man who allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old boy on a riding lawn mower last month.

Shenango Township Police charged David Edward McCosby, 53, of New Castle with simple assault and harassment stemming from an incident that occurred on Aug. 27 in which McCosby allegedly assaulted a teenager that was cutting grass at a residence on Hollow Road, New Castle.

According to police, the teenager may have accidentally driven into oncoming traffic on Hollow Road. The police said that the accused stopped his vehicle, got out, and assaulted the boy in the front lawn of the home.

The report said that the boy was knocked off the lawn mower and was subsequently assaulted – police never stated the severity of the assault.

McCosby’s preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled.
