Two Ellwood City police officers responded to a trespassing complaint at a resident on Center Avenue, and while attempting to put the accused into custody, the officers were injured, according to reports.
Police say that Heather Ward, 22, of Summit Ave., Ellwood City, resisted arrest last Friday, and while doing so, injured the face of one officer and the wrist and hand of another officer.
According to the report, Ellwood Police were attempting to remove Ward from the property of another woman’s residence. After Ward refused to leave and began shouting obscenities at the officers, they tried to subdue the woman.
The report said Ward struck the one officer in the face and bit at the other.
Ward was charged with a felony aggravated assault, defiant trespassing, and resisting arrest. She was arraigned and placed in the Lawrence County Jail on a $20,000 bond. Her preliminary hearing was set for Sept. 13 at 9:30 a.m.
