Playground Attendees Learn to Kayak

The second Ellwood City Borough Playground Enrichment Program was held this week. David McQuaid, owner of Keystone Sojourns Adventures, gave an informative presentation on the proper procedures and skills necessary to use and enjoy the water sport of Kayaking. Villella to Obtain Quotes for Police Cell Phones

Borough Manager Bob Villella was given the okay to retrieve prices regarding the purchase of cell phones for the Police Department and Fire Chief at Monday night’s council meeting. Ellwood 18U All Star Softball Takes First Again

The Ellwood City Girls Slow Pitch All Star Softball 18U team traveled to the Penn Trafford All Star Tournament on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. The team took first place in the 19U division. Saint Elias Orthodox Celebrates 100th Year

On Sunday, the Saint Elias Orthodox Church was presented with a commendation from Mayor Anthony J. Court on behalf of Ellwood City for their 100th Year as a parish family. Detroit Man Charged with Connection to Shooting

In continuing the investigation of the Loop Street shooting Sunday night, state police charged a Detroit-area man with connections to the incident. According to a local news source, Jeffrey Christopher Sack Jr., 22, of Highland Park, Mich., was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault on Monday. Council votes to not move Circle Playground Equipment

Nick Mancini raised his concerns at Monday night’s council meeting over the playgrounds in the area. He complained of the poor placement of playground equipment that prohibits local children from playing pickup baseball and football games.
